Project Overview

The Construction of COME Academy in Lucknow aims to provide a safe, permanent, and nurturing learning environment for 100 underprivileged children from vulnerable backgrounds, including street children, children from slums, and economically disadvantaged families.

COME has already purchased 1,900 sq. metres (22,000 sq. ft.) of land in Lucknow and completed the foundation and roof slab work. The remaining construction includes wall plastering, electrical wiring, fittings, and safety installations.

Once completed, the Academy will offer classrooms for education and skill development, along with spaces for counselling, recreation, and holistic child development.

Objectives:
  • Provide safe and quality education for vulnerable children.
  • Support children's educational continuity and emotional well-being.
  • Create a long-term educational infrastructure for marginalized communities.
  • Build confidence and self-esteem among children through a supportive learning environment.
Key Activities:
  • Enrol and support 100 vulnerable children through community outreach.
  • Provide education, remedial learning support, and basic digital skills.
  • Supply books, uniforms, and learning materials.
  • Conduct life skills training, sports, and recreational activities.
  • Provide a safe, child-friendly environment with counselling and psychosocial support.
  • Engage parents and communities to promote education and reduce dropout rates.
Expected Outcomes:
  • Improved literacy, numeracy, and learning confidence among children.
  • 80% of enrolled children successfully complete the academic year.
  • Increased school retention and transition to higher education.
  • Reduced vulnerability to child labour, exploitation, and street involvement.
  • Enhanced employability and future livelihood opportunities for beneficiaries.
Project Beneficiaries:

The Academy will enrol 100 children annually from highly marginalized and vulnerable backgrounds. Beneficiaries will include street-connected children, children living on railway platforms, children engaged in rag-picking, children from economically disadvantaged rural families, and children residing in urban slums. The project will provide structured education, a safe and nurturing learning environment, and essential support services, enabling children to access opportunities that would otherwise remain beyond their reach. Through this intervention, the Academy seeks to promote education, personal development, and long-term social upliftment.

Sustainability Plan:

The sustainability of the project is anchored in a multi-pronged approach combining community participation, institutional strengthening, and diversified funding.

  • Community Ownership: Active engagement of parents and local communities will foster a sense of responsibility, ensuring continued participation and reduced dropout rates.
  • Capacity Building: Teachers and staff will receive ongoing training to ensure the delivery of quality education and support services.
  • Integration with Formal Systems: Efforts will be made to mainstream children, into government schools, ensuring long-term educational continuity.
  • Diversified Funding: The organization will mobilize resources through CSR partnerships, individual donors, and philanthropic networks to reduce dependency on a single funding source.
  • Low-Cost, High-Impact Model: Efficient utilization of resources and infrastructure will help maintain operational sustainability.
  • Long-Term Commitment: The Academy is part of COME's ongoing mission to empower vulnerable children through education and holistic development, ensuring continuity beyond the proposed funding period.
